“I wish I had known sooner”: thoughts on our upcoming podcast
“I wish I had known sooner” are words Jill and I hear from women all the time. What they mean is that they wish someone had talked to them about abuse, shown them the Cycle of Abuse or the Power and Control Wheel long before they finally learned about it in our book, When Love Hurts.
It disheartens us to see how women, suffering with abuse from their partners, search for information and answers everywhere – online, in books, from support people – and continue to be given unhelpful and sometimes dangerous advice. It’s particularly disturbing for us when women tell us about their experiences with counsellors.
This has left us with a longing to get helpful information into women’s hands faster and easier. We are excited to announce that we are currently creating a podcast with this very idea in mind.
Introducing…the When Love Hurts podcast
The When Love Hurts podcast will be for anyone who wants to know more about woman abuse and the long-ranging impacts in the lives of women and children. We will cover fundamental and crucial information for professionals and women, as well as weave in newer learnings we have gained from women over the last few years.
We are excited to have two hosts join us: Alison Epp and Jo Neill have both survived abuse themselves. Their lived experiences motivated them to become Clinical Counsellors so they could support other women. We are looking forward to honest and engaging conversations and hope that you will join us. The podcast will launch in November, and you will be able to find it wherever you usually go for your podcasts.
