  1. I found your website this morning and am listening to your CBC interview. It has been 12 1/2 years since I came out of an abusive relationship – verbal, emotional, mental, financial, sexual – and listening to this interview brings back so many memories. It also re-validates my experience.

Since 2003 I have been facilitating divorce recovery groups and often have contact with women in these situations. Only once has a man come through our program who was experiencing abuse from his wife.

An added dimension to this topic is in the area of spiritual abuse that is often present in relationships when the partners hold deep religious beliefs. This in itself often prevents women from acknowledging the abuse and seeking help. It certainly was the case in my situation, made worse by the fact that my ex-husband and I were working in a religious setting overseas.

What has been your experience in this area?

One statistic I’ve read indicates that 25% of women in church on a Sunday morning are living with domestic violence. It’s this group of women that I am most passionate about helping.

I came across your website just this morning and am looking forward to getting a copy of your book. It’s great to have a Canadian resource to share with women.

    Best regards,

P.S. I wonder if it’s possible to list resources to help women from all the provinces?
